If my hamster walks on stones, will this help file his nails down?

he has a few stones in his cage that he walks on or sits on. some of his nails on his back feet are pretty longIf my hamster walks on stones, will this help file his nails down?
I personally think a brick works better, as they are much coarser. Putting the brick under the water bottles ensures that the hamster must walk over it at least once a day.If my hamster walks on stones, will this help file his nails down?
Yes walking on stones does help to file his nails down, if this doesn't work then you should take him to the vets and get them professionally cut, NEVER try to cut its nails yourself as it can cause them great stress and you don't know how short to cut them (unless you are a vet yourself)
Yes in the wild hamsters need long claws for digging so they will grow all the time and there is no one in the wild to cut them for them digging helps keep the front ones short and running around on stones and hard ground helps the back ones stay short.
No, the best thing is sand paper.

Worked for all my hams
Yes, they should
