Would a real diamond get scratches if u sd paper it or nail file it???

just wondering......

if not what scratches it???Would a real diamond get scratches if u sd paper it or nail file it???
I'm guessing ';sd paper'; is ';sand paper';.

Most sand paper is made of aluminum oxide (corundum) or silicon carbide, both of which are slightly softer than diamond. If you went at it long enough, you could do some damage to the diamond. However, it is unlikely to produce a visible scratch immediately.

A file is more likely to chip large pieces off the diamond, rather than remove material smoothly.

Diamonds are generally ground using abrasive wheels containing more diamond dust.Would a real diamond get scratches if u sd paper it or nail file it???
yes they would. but you'd need a hell of a lot of sd paper.

to file diamonds in industry they use abhesive tungstun (second hardest material to diamond) wheels. however it takes about 10cm on wheel for 1cm of diamond
No, diamond is the hardest thing on earth. So if your fella has given you a 'diamond' ring and the stone has scratches on it he owes you another ring.

With a bigger, REAL, diamond!
No sand paper nor a nail file would scratch diamond. Other diamonds do and some very exotic man made materials .
No, a real diamond does not scratch. A diamond is made up of a giant covalent structure so it is very hard and strong.
No, the only thing that can touch a diamond is another diamond
